What causes a cold sore/fever blister?!

Question: What is the best medicine to use on it and should you pop the blister or just let it alone?
Answers:
Herpes Simplex type 1 is the virus associated with lip and mouth cold sores. It is a relatively common episodic disease that can be passed by direct contact. (Herpes simplex type 2 is associated with genital herpes).

If you feel the first signs of the tingling sensation before the blisters erupt (called the 'prodrome') you can apply ice to it, intermittently, and this can in some c ases alleviate or stop the outbreak altogether..

It is sometimes thought that poor diet, illness, emotional and or physical stress, even exposure to sunlight and other factors can cause the eruptions, but there are over the counter medications, along with ice therapy that can be tried safely to diminish outbreaks and make you more comfortable.

Prescription medications in pill/topical form can also be prescribed if outbreaks are severe enough.

Best wishes

Herpes simplex virus 1. And don't pop it.
It's different than herpes 2 which is the STD on the genitals. However I believe you can pass herpes 1 to the genitals of someone through oral sex.

Dont touch! It is Herpes Simplex 2 virus. Give it a week and it'll go away. Try some camphor oil on it.
that mallory girl is playing with you, when i have fevers, i get fever blisters, so that's a reason why.
Herpes, don't pop it, use zovirax and no kissing anyone until it's gone :)
It is caused by a variety of the Herpes virus. Do not pop the blister, it will get mush worse and scar much more if your do. Your doctor can prescribe one of many different herpes virus medications for this. Some are for use only on occasion, others are to be taken all the time to suppress future outbreaks.
Oral sex probably caused it or kissing someone with a cold sore. Cold sore is just a nice word for herpes around the mouth.
did you kiss someone who had one? if so then theres probably your awnser.
Above are correct, it a Herpes Simplex 2 virus. Many people have this, some not put anything on it and just leave it alone and it go away in time.
A cold sore is a mild form of herpes that you can nevr get rid of, there are plenty of good creams out there for it but if you've got one becarefull what you drink out of or who you kiss because it is very easily speard to others.
It is a form of herpes. It can be spread to other people from kissing, drinking after you or touching it and then touching their mouth, eyes or nose. Leave it alone and let it go away on its own.
as everybody else said and they usually return when you are worn out or stressed and tired so take care of yourself. oh an use zovirax
maybe herpes or sun blister, don't kiss, share glasses, utensils, lipstick with anyone
i use Releev
It is most likely Herpes Simplex I (not 2/II as someone else said - Herpes Simples II is genetal herpes). You can use blistex or similar medication on it. Avoid citrus drinks because they can irritate the cold sore. If it spreads or lasts more than 2 weeks, see a doctor.
I found that the best thing to do is put Abreva on it as soon as possible (once it starts to tingle) If you don't catch it early enough you can use ice to help reduce the swelling. Just reply the Abreva as often as possible and see a doctor if you get them more than once a month. Stress, colds, and too much sunlight can trigger them. Take Lysine once a day to help keep them at bay and don't eat chocolate when you get one, there is an enzyme in it that can make them worse.
