Why is air infused by catheter through the anal canal during a laparoscopic pros!

When surgeons are working in there, they need to be able to see and keep things they don't want to touch out of the way. It is not unique to the type of surgery you are talking about. It is with all surgery. I had a tubal ligation two years ago and they did it laparscopically. They told me I would feel pressure and bloating like gas afterwards because of the air but it wasn't too bad and it didn't last for too long. As for the anal canal, I know they can reach your prostate from there. I'm sure it's for the same purpose as any other surgery. They need to see and keep other stuff out of their way.and it's all connected man.

Other Answers:
to displace the bowel so as not injured
you kind of get into that kind of stuff ,don't you?
---WHAT---??
To keep the canal open for examination, otherwise it would collapse and make it difficult to see
Its to inflate the area and be able to more easily move around and see everything in there.
so to create a field for operation
not to damage surrounding organs like balader etc
I think there might be a problem with that thinking. It should be inserted in the catheter itself not thru the anus. The catheter itself has a inflateable balloon to keep it in place and nornally they use sterile water 10cc or more to depending on the size of catheter.
I am a qualified nurse of 17 years so know what I am on about. They put the air up your rear end because that is close to the prostate. If you imagine your insides are like a crushed paper bag the docs could see nothing. So they put air into blow all the bowel and guts out of the way. Sorry this not put nicely but it is in basic laymans terms.
