Is an Orthopedic surgeon better than a podiatrist at preforming foot surgery?!

Question: I'm getting ready to have surgery on my foot. The orthopedic surgeon said that my problem was from wearing too small of shoes. I went to the shoes store and had my feet fitted.guess what? I'm wearing the RIGHT size. So, went to a podiatrist and he said, no.. I have 3 hammertoes and abunion and a tailor's bunion. So, do you think that the podiatrist just wants to do surgery? Or that the orthopedic guy didn't know what he was talking about? Which is better at handling feet?
Answers:
i would say find person #3 dont tell them about the other 2 and see what they say.
be very careful before you let anyone do anything to you, and make sure you know IN DETAIL (without all the gross stuff) what is going to happen

i have been off of my feet for over 3 weeks now cause i went to a place to have something removed from the bottom of my foot and i was told i would only be off my foot for one day.

be careful, just make sure you do your research online too before you go.
and good luck!
