Question: i'm 13 years old and currently 5'1". my dad is 6'2" and my mom is 5 foot. please someone tell me why i am so short! shouldn't i be taller since my dad is tall?

not nessicarily. my mom is 5'2, my dad is 5'11-6 foot. and i'm taller than my father. it doesn't just depend on them, but on your parent's parent's, etc

because it all has to do with genetics. your mom's gene was probably more dominant thans your dads. also dont worry you are only 13 and you grow until like 18 anyways.

You just put in your numbers and it gives you an idea of how tall you will be.
Some take after their dad and some their mom. Don't worry, short can be very cute. Your dad must have thought a person 14 inches shorter was.
I can't tell you why you are 'so short', but I do know that the typical woman stops growing a year after she starts menstruating. My dad is 6'0", Mum 5'2", and I am 5'8". Does not always work out like that.

Actually, u might be short forever, depending on genetics. tall is represented by TT and short is represented by tt. tall is dominant. if ur mom has full short genes and ur dad has hertereozygus tall genes, then you could very well be short. You could find this out usind a punnet square. I suggest searching for this on Yahoo! or googgle, because they can explain it better. I hope this helped!
It has to do with genetics and the nutricain your getting. Don't worry, your only 13, You are still growing. My guess is that you'll grow to be anywhere from 5'6 to 6'0

the only way to tell, regardless of genetics, is to have an xray taken of your hand. the doctor will be able to give you a close average based on the space between the joints.

Besides a lot of great people are very short.. Tom Cruise ( who I met years ago-post top gun ) and he is really short, 5'2" or 5'4". Paul Newman had to stand on orange crates with his lovely leading ladies, and Sly Stallone is approx 5'8". Arnie is only 5'9", so you're in good company..don't worry!!!
