I am worried. My middle tooth on the bottom row is loose, I have periodititus.?!

Question: Already the dentist told me a bridge was out of the question. Can you get small plates for just 1 tooth or what?
Answers:
I am a dentist.

If the tooth to which you are referring is at the front of the mouth, its proper name is a "lower incisor" or "mandibular incisor".

These teeth are the smallest teeth in your mouth, possessing the least amount of root surface by which it is anchored into the bone. Additionally, the alveolar bone (i.e. the bone that supports these teeth) is the thinnest of any area in your mouth, and furthermore, these teeth are often the most neglected when cleaning. They are by far the teeth most vulnerable to the sequellae of periodontitis.

I would recommend seeing your dentist, who may refer you to a periodontist. While such a visit is highly worthwhile, be aware that treatment options for the tooth are limited.
