How can you get even for very poor dental work ?!

Question:

You can't, if you sue it won't hurt the dentist unless he is small practice, hard working, and has never been sued. If he volunteers to fix it for you he probably has not been sued. The ultra-rich dentist is not afraid of law suits, its not uncommon for them to be sued by one or two patients per year, They have good insurance and the rest of the honest hardworking dentist pay high premiums to support their legal defenses. They take classes on how to make themselves bullet proof.

Their poor work is a function of their aggressiveness. They advertise themselve as "Top Docs" and "succsefull" and thus justify their litigation problems due to their success, not their poor dentistry.

However, I would suggest that they are the exception, and not the norm. Most dentist are hard working and really want the dentistry to last. Have you tried talking to the dentist? Try that. See if he is willing to guarentee his work. If the shotty work is your fault he will let you know. Maybe your tongue is too big and he can't work around it. LOL. I heard that one recently.

Look there is no reason for detnal work to be done that is bad. Since you can not determine on your own what is good or what is bad I would suggest contacting your local dental society and seeing if they have an arbitration process, called peer review. This is the kindest, lowest cost thing you could do to get your concerns addressed.

I don't know that you can. I've had numerous fillings fall out that were all done by the same dentist, and 2 of my teeth have broken to the point where I had them pulled rather than having root canals. Other than perhaps calling their office to let them know of your problems, maybe they'd be willing to re-do any work that they did for a reduced fee?
If you feel your dentist did not give you standard care and gave poor care, you can register a complaint with the state dental board. They investigate all claims and take them VERY seriously.

Check to see if they really have a license. Call the consumer agency of your state. In major cities look online for consumer help and report the dentist to the agency. Also report the dentist to the ADA.
