basically male nipples arent for any purpose. it is just a let over from when they were developing in the womb. before a baby's sex is determined all are female.so the nipple is just a leftover from when they stopped being female and started developing male genitalia.

i don't know exactly if it has a purpose, but it exists because at one point in an embrionary fase, the embrion has no sex, but has nipples, after that becoming a "he" or a "she"..

Well, some males can lactate. So in some cases they could be used for feeding kids. As others have said, in early fetal development males and females look the same. More or less, we are born females. The development, and presence of testes determines if we develop into males, or females. The penis and vagina look the same early on as well. In males it develops, and the tip becomes the head of the penis, in females it becomes the clitoris.
