How can you control hormones?!

Question: I am a 20 yr old female who, a week before, and a week after getting my period is an emotional wreck. I cry and cry and cry and I can't seem to control it no matter how hard i try? Does anyone know if there is a medicine out there that may be able to help me? Also, I'm on OrthoTriCyclen lo birth control, does that make any difference? I'm desperate for help before I ruin all my relationships with frinds and family. Thank you!

You may want to use another pill, such as yasmin, which is well known for helping with weight loss and levelling out moods (i'm using it and its done wonders for me!). The pill is usually the best to control hormones, but outside of that, try vitamin B supplements or something like st johns wart (a common supplement used for mild depression). It can really help to get through the serious fluctuations. If its uncontrollable, see your GP because it shouldn't be quite so extreme as to impact on your life! Good luck with this!

I also with hormones sickness..
Hormones can be controlled both by pills and by natural methods, but only to a degree. Your hormones are being regulated by your birth control. Think back. . .did you act like this before you started on this? If not, the birth control is the problem. The natural way to take care of hormones is to eat right (stay away from yeast, sugar and caffein) and get enough rest consistently. The natural way to take care of birth control is to save sex till marriage - helps with emotions as well.
hey i think ur problem is not some thingk diffrent most of women suffer the pain before their periods or have painful menstruations ya there r medicines assigned for it u can consult ur doc for it the medicines rather may reduce ur pain so u have to see ur doc for help he may precribe u the right medicines as per ur heath
if you want to go herbal, motherwort, (Leonurus cardiaca) also known as lion's ear, lion's tail, Roman motherwort, and throw-wort is supposed to help with mood swings and Oatstraw (Avena sativa) is supposed to help.

Chromium tablets are also supposed to help with mood swings. I have some notes at home, and when I get there I'll update this.
I am an alternative medicinal therapist and an ex nurse. My love, there are no actual ways to control hormones, the doctors that give you all sorts of pills only end up making a bad condition worse. nature is nature but you can help it along using natures own medicine.Go to your health shop and get some Agnus Castus capsules and Evening Promrose oil. You can also take ST Johns Wort for mild depression. Just remember that herbal medicine takes a little longer to work it has to get into the system. It won't affect your Birth Control Pill, you can check with your doctor if you wish, but most of them don't agree with herbal medicine, they don't like competition. My patients don't even go to their GP they come to me. Also, your diet has a great effect on your menstrual cycle. You maybe short of magnesium. there is also a combination of vits and mins, your health shop will sort one out for you.
