Most cases of pink eye will resolve on their own within 4 weeks, BUT you will be very contagious during that entire time. The best way to get rid of it (and minimize spread) is to see your eye doctor. He/she can prescribe eye drops that will treat the infection and shorten the course of the disease. If you refuse to see a doctor, make sure that you wash your hands often, use your own towels, and don't touch your eyes. You can use cool compresses and refrigerated rewetting eyedrops for comfort, but they will do nothing to cure it.
