I heard that reusing water bottles could be harmful to your health. Is that true!

Question: Water bottles and dangers of reusing them.
Answers:
Yes they can be harmful because plastic is porus and collects and retains bacteria. I don't think it's advisable to resume them. I mean hot? I'd almost have to be boiling hot and you'd have to boil the bottle inside and out. It's not really worth the trouble I don't think. But IDK maybe if you put scalding hot stuff in it, it may kill the bad stuff. Here is an article that may answer your question better than I could.

Other Answers:
They're dangerous if you don't wash them well. Many people just use them and reuse them without a good washing with at least good soap and water along with some scrubbing. Bacteria can build up in the wet conditions.
I think that it is just mainly if you don't clean them out properly, that bacteria could build up in them and make you sick. I don't know about putting hot stuff in them, it wouldn't be very insulating.
bacteria can still grow in the bottle, even if you put"hot stuff" in there. the bottle needs to be boiled after each use to make sure it's clean, but no one ever does that. it just depends on your level of tolerance.
Yes, if they are not properly cleaned out they can grow bacteria in them that would then be ingested. Hot liquids cool down and you have the same problem. Just make sure to properly clean them out and use hot soapy water.
it depends on the type. the real clear thicker bottles are safer. but the cloudy thinner ones are not.

my family has been using the same water bottles for years without washing and we're fine. we just keep refilling it with water and keep them in the refrig. i guess that's why we're okay because we keep it refrigerated. but we only use it for water so i guess that's okay. ( ? ) maybe we just built up an immunity. whatever the case, i have never seen any mold or buildup of any kind.

sorry, not much help.

Yes and yes. If you don't wash them before reusing, that could be a case. But water bottles of RO water are best not to be used, because non-RO water inserted into RO water bottles will break down harmful particles of the RO water bottle. RO water are specially patented without some substances that could break down it's water bottle particles. I don't know the harm level though. But I can assure you, pouring HOT water into water bottles will be far too much!

By the way, try to use tupperware for multi-reusing and hot water bottle for hot water.
Lols and good luck!
I reuse my waterbottle all the time. Someone at my job said she read an article about harmful toxins that you can get from freezing and thawing liquid in plastic bottles. I'd say it would probably be smart not to only make sure you wash your bottle thoroughly but also replace the bottle more often.
Yuk! Why would you want to taste plastic from the hot stuff any who? Safe for cold.yes.otherwise the water wouldn't be in them in the first place. Hot Stuff.no way otherwise you risk getting sick. Finding hotstuff containers (suitable for hot foods)is easy if we take the time to read the labels at the store. Hope this helps.
