I was on the depo shot for 3 years. It settles down after a while. If you don't need to be on it, try a different form of birth control. Ultimately I was happy to be free from my endo pain, but I gained 45 pounds on it because it's a steroid and I wasn't aware. The depo shot usually stays in your system anywhere from 6-18 months after you stop getting the shot. This doesn't mean you can't get pregnant, it just means it might be harder for a while. If you are scared and tired of bleeding then try a different drug, like the pill, ultimately its your body and you get to decide what goes in or doesn't. Hope you find a form that works for you.

Everyone I know who tries the depo shot bleeds constantly. When you least suspect it, a few times a month and more. It's horrible as you are seeing right now. Get off it and get another form of birth control. I live for the pill. It's the best!
don't get another shot. i've had a terrible experiences with them. i didn't have a period for 3 months because of the shot. i was terrified the entire time. use condoms and spermicidal foam to prevent pregnancy. if you want children someday you need to let your system relax and re-balance itself. that means no artificial hormones. no pills, shots or any other unnatural hormones in your system. i've had great experiences using contraceptive foam. you put it in right before you have sex and it kills the sperm. your partner shouldn't even notice.
