Just buy ivy dry. It's not perscription and not that expensive it works wonders.
Wash the infected area wih antiseptic soap and then apply calamine lotion. Aloe vera works well, too.
using an anti itch cream works, it is not transferrable after you give it a good washing. the oil is the irritant. after the oil is gone it shouldnt spread
Calamine lotion is the best. It helps the sores dry out and heal. DON'T SCRATCH!
As soon as you come in contact with it wash your hands immediatly! The oil from the plant stays on the thick skin of your palms longer than anywhere. Also any clothing or shoes you were wearing should be washed before contact again. Otherwise.good luck with the oat meal bath and cammomile lotion!

experience and the family doctor
When I was a kid my mother made a paste of baking powder (Arm & Hammer) and water and covered the site with that. It helps for a while. Then there is Calamine (sp?) lotion, which you can get at any drugstore.

Don't scratch! That breaks the blisters and spreads the oil that is causing the problem.
I have found that if you have access to a hot tub with all the right chemicals in it, that it will usually kill that. It isn't the rash that really spreads.it is the oils that are still there from the plant being transferred by touching. First thing one should do after contact is to shower. That helps it from spreading.but to clear it up.I suggest a hot tub!
Calimine lotion and there is a special soap too, I think it is alveno, but in the mean time call the doctor and see it if he or she will call in a prescription for you at the pharmacy, or it will drive you crazy!
take a bath in oat-meal 2 a day it works..
shower first to keep it from spreading
make a paste of baking powder and water rub it on for a bit
to soothe it
if not use calamine
try milk weed if you no what that is
Mix 1/2 water with 1/2 bleach and poor on it. Yes it will burn, But it helped me. If it don't work for you then you will need to go to the doctor. Good Luck
Washing the area with soap and water 2 or 3 times will help remove most of the poison. Blend oatmeal, baking soda with hot water into a paste and leave it on till it dries and then rinse it off and than should help with the itching some. Don't scratch. That's the worst thing you can do.
Poison Ivy does not spread the way you think it does. Only the areas that came in contact with the oils from the plant will be effected. The oil can last up to 10 years on clothing and such, so make sure you wash everything thoroughly. As far as the itch goes. My mother swears by Benedryl spray. (I am not allergic to it. I've never had it.)
