i guess it's really up to the girl. some girls like it and some don't. But personally i think guys look more clean cut without a mustache, beard, or side burns. but that's just me. i can't really say that for all the ladies.

Depends on what they look like on the guy. Some guys look good with them some don't. If this is for your own curiosity, the only thing you can do is let it grow out. Then ask a girl that isn't afraid to give you an honest opinion. You can always shave. Personally I like them, but you can never go wrong with a clean shave.
And by the way some really attractive guys have(or have had) facial hair: Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, Heath Ledger, and Shaq--just to name a few.
