I know a couple people with them. One person's did stain pretty badly (of course, the water in my area has high iron content.) I had regular braces, and my friends always seemed to be in twice as much pain when they got a new set than when I got a stiffer wire.
And yes, you can see invisalign, but it's very discrete.

My boss has them. They appear to have not stained at all! Her teeth look great! I hear they are painful when switching to new molds every two weeks.
