any one knows cure for ulcerative colitis?!
Question: suffering from ulcerative colitis since 12 years . taking salazopirin and prednisolon 25mg .I want to know the fruits and veggis I can eat and permanent cure if any in ayurved or homeopathy or alopathy or naturopathy or pranayam.

I have had uc for about 9 years and, unfortunately, there is no "cure". There are various surgeries that can be performed to remove most of the affected areas, but there is always a chance of recurrence. The best key to keep symptoms down is to watch your diet very carefully. Try not to eat acidic foods, such as tomato products. Stay away from artificial sweeteners, especially SUCROSE. You must also learn what effects you as an individual. Certain activities can also aggravate the condition. Just take one day at a time and be headstrong enough to refuse the things that can make your condition worse. THE BEST OF LUCK TO YOU !

of course there is a cure. the only cure for uc is removing the colon. uc affects the colon. if you have your colon removed you will not suffer from uc.
well i was just diagnosed of uc a few months ago. man i was depressed
im aof indian origin so was surpised. it mostly affects whites
i abandoned western food and started traditional indian food (minus the spices) its the refined foods and the preservatives that seem to to start it
so discontinue it

There is no cure short of removing the affected tissues . yet. There is a study at the University of Florida testing a drug (sargramostim) which, if the study pans out, would revolutionize the treatment of Chron's and UC. It is essentially testing the effect of boosting (rather than suppressing) the immune system in IBD patients. This would help to explain why probiotics work in alleviating the symptoms of a significant number of IBD patients.
Still, until new research is released, the only way to cure it is through a total proctocolectomy (which isn't as bad as it sounds. For most patients, at least).
