Depends on a couple things:
If you have really curly hair, you'll need to have it straightened at a salon before doing this.
If you have wavy to semi-straight hair and want that "stick straight" look, you should get a CERAMIC hair straightener. The best ones can be found at Sally Beauty Supply, or ask about them at a salon near you. Make sure it is ceramic. These work best and take very little time to heat up.

Get your hair chemicaly straightened at a local salon sometime. It dosen't take too long and can stay straightened for weeks.

If you have naturally curly hair DO NOT get it chemically straightened, it will a) break a lot of your hair and b) ruin your curls). If you just have wavy hair you can get it chemically straightened, but make sure that you go to someone who knows what they are doing. If they are the cheapest around that's not the place you want to go to. And as far as straightening irons go, get a ceramic straightener. The plates are kind of a dingy goldish color, not shiny. There is no fast way to straighten your hair, if you want straight hair your just going to have to deal with the time it consumes.
