What do you do about Restless Leg Syndrom?!

Question: I have had it for years and just wondered if anyone that suffers from it has found a really good solution for RLS.
Answers:
I mostly sleep with pillows under my legs. It doesn't always work, but generally the elevation under the knee makes my legs relax. You can also see your doctor. Recently a drug (REQUIP) has been developed to help with Restless Leg Syndrome. He'll evaluate your symptoms and decide if it's necessary to prescribe it.

Other Answers:
take that new pill on the market
No, sorry. I don't know, but I guess I have The Jimmy Legs! lol As described on the show Seinfeld. While trying to sleep my legs will go JERK and then I'm practically awake and scared for some reason. lol
Good luck finding help!
they have a good over-the counter medication. Go to your local drug store.
No, but I have found that if you ignore it it seems to calm down some. It doe's suck though, I feel for you.
my sister has that and i actually saw a commercial on it.try going to http://www.restlesslegs.com/ you might find something that can help you
shy of cutting it off..i find any aches i have at bedtime are cured quickly with calcium and magnesium suppliments. the calcium is the worker, the magnesium is needed to get the calcium processed into your system.
I usually just tense up my legs and make them tired so I don't move them so much.
Treatment of restless leg syndrome is first directed toward any underlying illness, if known. For example, a search for iron deficiency by blood testing to reveal underlying iron deficiency anemia. Reduction or elimination of caffeine and alcohol can be very helpful. Stopping smoking can also diminish symptoms. Getting better sleep and exercise can help some persons affected by restless legs.
Medications used to treat restless leg syndrome include carbidopa- levodopa, opioids (such as propoxyphene) or tramadol (Ultram) for intermittent symptoms, carbamazepine, clonazepam, diazepam, triazolam, temazepam, baclofen, bromocriptine and clonidine. Also, recently, gabapentin (Neurontin) has been found helpful. The FDA has now approved ropinirole (Requip) for the treatment of restless leg syndrome. Other treatments that have been helpful for some patients include avoiding caffeine, warm/cold baths, electric nerve stimulation, oral magnesium, and acupuncture.
Avoid stimulants like caffeine or sugar. Go for walks. Just a mellow walk, no freaky speed walking or anything. Improved cardio, better circulation will help.

There's also a drug being advertised on TV lately. I recommend regular walking. It works for me.

If all else fails, enter a jitterbug contest!
The new precription medication, Requip, is used for relief of Restless Legs Syndrome. I have also heard of quinine being used for this condition as well as for leg/foot cramps, so you might try drinking a little tonic water to see if that offers any relief.

Beyond that, I'd recommend checking out the following websites for more info-

The National Institute for Neurological Disorder and Stroke -http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/restless_legs/restless_legs.htm

Reqip (presription) - www.requip.com

Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation - www.rls.org

Best of luck to you! :)
