I want to know how to read a toxicology report for meconium for drug exposure?!

Question: I adopted a child born drug exposed and would like to be able to read the report.
Answers:
There are many differant testing methods that may have been used in determaning if your child had drugs or other substances in his or her body at birth. How to read the report would depend on what test or tests upon the report was based and what substance(s) were found present, if any. Also the health of your child at birth, any health problems found or other pertainant medical information would also have to be weighed along with the tox report in determining the extrent of any exposure and the possible implications of such exposure. Normal lab values can be found through a simple web search, but I would suggest sitting down with a pathologist and going through the report with them. There can be many variables that need to be considered in reading and understanding such information and even more so when dealing with a newborn. Sorry I couldn't give you a more definative answer to your question, but I hope this helps.
