the gall bladder breaks down fats in the food it eats. When you have a gall bladder attack, it is because the fat has caused stones, and the gall bladder tries to contract down over the stones and causes pain. Its a pretty simple surgery to have it removed, they do it laproscopic...3 little incisons. Too keep from an attack til then, do not eat any food with fat in it.

a gall bladder attack does not necessarily mean you have gall stones, it could also be other things such as producing to much bile and trying to release it too fast, in my town, the docs here will not remove your gall bladder unless it is absolutely necessary, kind of sucks when you know it is bad
