Question: my dad had open heart surgery 11 years ago had a st jude mechanical valve put in went to the doctors and said the valve is sticking is there any other options other than open heart

I have done some prior reading on this as I have a defective heart valve (that, so far, has not required surgery). As far as I know, the answer would be no. When an artificial valve is placed, it is with the assumption that it most likely won't last forever, and surgery will be required again in the future.
