Why is toilet paper made out of individual squares?!

Question: Why isn't it all one long piece?

Cute kittycat:)

It is because it is easier to tear when it is perforated. The toilet paper that is not is annoying as heck!

Well, Gunther doesn't seem to think so, he has a hayday with it while I am at work. LOL! At least he is out of the phase of eating it. :S

To povide ease in tearing it off neatly..
Because it would be difficult to tear with only one hand if it weren't perforated.
But aren't you happy it's pre-cut for you? It's easier to tear along perforated lines, especially with one hand (as most toilet rolls hang on the wall on the side of the toilet bowl)

Circles would be too hard to manufacture.
So you can determine how much of it you need to use. Plus, it's easier to rip off because you can do it with one hand as opposed to if it were one long piece where you would most likely need both hands.

Because if you're in a public stall and you run out of TP, you can tap the wall and ask the guy in the next stall over "hey man, can you spare a square?"
Because some people like to tear off exactly 6 squares, then fold them delicately.

Other people like to rip a handful off, scrunch it up and dab!

Try marketing toilet paper that hasn't got tear lines in it and see how you go.
because we are all individuals
