Why do people cut themselves?What does it slove?!
Question: I have this friend that cuts her self, and I dont know why. Its really weird, like I know she is having probmels with her messed up boyfriend, but why does she cut? what does it slove?

According to some people, they cut and inflict outward pain to release the pain inside.

My friend cuts too and so did my brother. my brother just did it cos he was a poseur and wanted to be like Ritchie James from the Manic Street preachers, my friend says she does it because the physical pain dulls her emotional pain. I don't quite understand it either. I have had plenty of emotional pain and no amout of physical pain would lessen that but like I said, I don't understand it.
it's a form of emotional release.it's dangerous and progressive..get help for anyone that practices this. it's a temporary release that eventually will get out-of-hand. most manic/depressed people use this practice cuz they that can't cope. tell someone and get you're friend on med's NOW. intervene now before you're sorry you didn't. this is serious.
Cutters usually feel like they cannot control anything around them and with cutting, they can control the pain. It's their way of seeking control in their lives.
Or if they feel like they've failed and nobody blames them for that failure, they take it out on themselves because others won't.
Or.If they are anything like how I was, they were used to some form of abuse and when that abuse goes on for years and suddenly taken away, they need any form of punishment because they don't feel right without being punished. It's their routine and they need that routine.
NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
THEY CUT THEMSELVES FOR ATTENTION, WHICH IS STUPID. AND, ITS UNATTRACTIVE. THEY ALWAYS HAVE TO WEAR CLOTHES THAT COVER UP THEIR CUTS. WOULDNT THAT SUCK IN THE SUMMER TIME!
