What are effective non medical sleeping aids?!

I have taken a half dose of Benedryl, Tylenol PM and Sominex. Just be sure that you can sleep at least 8 hrs. Otherwise you'll be kinda out of it the next day. The Tylenol PM works best for me. I don't wake up out of sorts when I don't sleep for 7 + hours.

I used to have problems sleeping and my doctor said if I didnt want to take prescribed sleeping pills then take benadryl the pink regular pills it knocks me out and my boyfriend if not try Lunesta I heard its non-habbit forming prescribed medicine
The best to me is linden tea or "tilo." Some also use velarian or melatonin. ANY of this stuff, especially the pills, including benadryl have side effects. Benadryl works great but it actually gives you a hangover and puts you in a pissy mood the next day if you use it much. Use aids short-term to avoid side effects.

There are several great herbal remedies. Chinese medicine has a root you can boil, which my mother used for her insomnia and it was excellent. Go to any chinese herbal shop and tell them you need a sleep aid. chamomeile is supposed to be effective but it hasnt worked for me. Warm milk is a old wives tail, but depending on your age and the state you live in, marijuana is a great sleep aid, ground into a powder you can make tea with it.

Usually a nice bath in anything that smells of lavender or taking a bath with a lavender candle, then having some warm coco, shutting the lights out and using on of those things that sounds like rain, even a fish tank filter works for me. If not i agree with benadreyl
ive been inconvenienced by sleeping problems since i was a teenager, im now 33.5 years old. i discovered melatonin over a year ago. its natural, you can find it at wal-mart or any place that sells vitamins, and its cheap. start off with a low dose and your body will adjust. but its definately improved my problem with sleep. i have no trouble falling asleep, its staying asleep that ruins my day.
