I have psoriasis. I use a tanning bed to help. Do I need to do the full 30min or!
Question: I will be having total hip replacment surgery done in May. I have a small psoriais spot on my left hip. I need to clear that up asap or they will cancel my surgery. The doctor gave me a lotion to put on twice a day. I've done tanning in the past to help with my psoriais but I've never known if I really need to go the full 30 minutes or lf 15 a time will do. Also, should I go every day or every other day. The tanning salons all say "every day".. I'm afraid they are just saying this to get me to buy more minutes! Any sugguestions would be greatly appreciated.

Less is definately better. My sister had severe and I mean severe eczema and small bouts of sun and or sun therapy did help dry it out - however - too much of it will cause your skin to become so dehydrated and irritated that it will do much more damage and could cause a huge inflamation that will debilitze you. You must only go to the bed for 10 minutes at first. ONLY 10 minutes. You must NOT go for 30 because you will not only risk a third degree burn - but your psoriasis will become inflammed and cause you more grief.
If you do the 15 minutes - do that after your first treatment of 10. I promise, you have to be gradual or you will severely pay with your skin.

hello there im at the moment spending three times a week at my
local hospital to clear my psoriasis i dont understand why the doctor has given lotion to clear it up? if he or she knows about your hip replacement in may why havent they refered you to the hospital for u v treatment i asked a sun bed shop back last year the same question and i got the same answer the problem being they are in it for money when i got refered i told them i had tried a sunbed and it didnt work that well at all the answer i got back was because u v machines at the hospital are set to a higher dosage than those at a tanning shop my psoriais is quite bad and i can see a very big difference since using the hosiptal u v machine if i was yourself speak to you doctor and ask them if they would refer you as quick as possible so you dont miss out on your hip replacment as these opps dont come around everyday
