Best way to treat Achilles Tendonitis?!

Question: 61 year old male, walking 2 hours, 5 days a week, last 18 months without orthotics, which were worn for over pronation.
Developed Achilles Tendonitis, right ankle.
Reinstated orthotics, last 3 weeks, still unable to walk much,
apart from slowly around house.
Answers:
you need an eccentric exercise program for this. Muscles can contract in either concentric or eccentric fashion. Concentric means that the muscle shortens as it contracts and eccentric means that it lengthens while contracting. Don't do concentric exercises, eccentric or heel lowering off a step (toes on the step) will do the trick. This along with rest from the aggravating activity and some antiinflamatory drugs will help.

good luck!
Time for a proper evaluation. Please see your Chiropractor or Podiatrist.

Best wishes and good luck!
Did this injury require surgery? My brother tore his achilles tendon and had surgery and his recovery is progressing. He was advised to continue therapy. He wears a boot and it was his left foot. Are you doing any therapy?

It will take time! Ice, elevate, take anti-inflammatories like Advil or Aleve and wrap the right ankle, continue to wear the orthotics when walking and give it time. It could take months for it to get back to normal.
