I get migraines from stress that last for days at a time. How can I get rid of i!

I just answered a similar question for someone else. I'll paste the answer below. Also.Excedrin now puts out "Excedrin Migraines". I've found that on the rare migraine I get now.it helps a lot!

Anyway, here is how I finally stopped getting migraines so frequently:

Migraines are caused by fluctuating hormones. I've suffered from them terribly! I finally found a doctor who gave me this advice.and it's very rare now that I get them! :)

He told me to stay away from the following foods for a week before my period is due..and until my period stops:

Onions, caffeine, chocolate, red wine, cheeses, foods with electrolytes and nitrates (such as gatorade, bacon, ham, processed meats), nuts, dried fruit and yogurt.

Sounds like there is nothing left to eat..but you manage to find things when the alternate is those AWFUL migraines.

First and foremost, eleviate the cause of the stress. If this is not possible, find ways of reducing your stress. Start with regular exercise.

Treating the root of the problem is far better than treating the symptom.
I get them pretty bad too so you have my sympathy. I make sure that I lie down in a dark quiet room with an ice pack. I know ice sounds strange for headaches, but it helps me. I put it on the back of my neck. I know that there are a lot of prescription drugs out there, but I haven't tried those because so many meds hurt my stomache. Try the ice pack, Advil, dark, quiet, and massage the area that hurts the most.

i heard if you put cloth pins on your fingers moving it till you find the right one that it relives the pain with in mins
If you go to a doctor they can give you an injection to make it stop.


Although, in the long term it might be more useful to practice some relaxation techniques to prevent them.

Yoga
Breathing exercises.


any of those might prove helpful.
Caffeine is a big helper. It pumps the blood faster, relieving the pressure in your head. Also, you need to relax, meditate. Slow down, and breathe. Concentrate on your breathing. Once you get your migraines under control, you will learn how to stop them before they start. I have had migraines since I was 5 years old. I am 35 now, and I haven't had one for 9 years.
are you on the pill or injection by any vchance, i had really bad migranes and it turned out to be the particular pill that i was on.
