Answers:
Neuropathy is just a general medical term for any condition that affects the nervous system.

"Peripheral neuropathy" is any condition affecting the peripheral nerves, such as in the legs. A common cause of peripheral neuropathy is Diabetes. Vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause it. Both can 'run in families'.

What has your doctor told you about this 'family' condition?

I can't really offer much more than this.

Best wishes.
