what does a psychiatric nurse do?!

Question: their responsibilities and the scope of their duty
Answers:
I had a CPN once as i was living with depression, i still do. They are there to help you talk about whats going on for you, and offer help be it referring you to another proffesional such as a Occupational therapist,if they think you may need one, they monitor how you cope with things in every day life, they can also accompany you to you're GP and discuss any issues that you may feel uncomfortable talking about,or dont know how to explain eactly how you are feeling,it helps especially if you dont like to go over you're worries or issues over and over, they can break the ice by explaining you're problems and needs. They can also reccommend a period of rest in a hospital if needed, its all about trust like everything else you have to feel comfortable with the person before you can open up to them, try going out for coffee or tea perhaps twice a week, they get paid well to provide a service,so if you find that they are worth taking a risk with, then try it, you never know it might just be what you need, anything you tell them is totally confidential they are normally very helpful in many ways, with things like benefits you may be entitled to, amongst other things, so they cover a whole lot of different areas. You will know if this psychiatric nurse is right for you, dont be afraid if you dont find yourself getting on with them, you can always ask for another, but try taking a risk they can be very helpful, and you will know what you feel comfotable talking about, remember they are there for YOU.
