What type of qualifications do you need to have to be a personal trainer?!

Question:
Answers:
previous training experience, maybe if u have also taken some sort of courses in kinesiology (movement of the body). or if u show them that u are knowledgeable in a wide range of physical exercises, weights, yoga, core exercises, etc.
of course if u have a BS is Kinesiology u will have no problem getting the job.
but mainly i would say just sell yourself as someone very familiar with different sports and safety protocol, some nutrition, and of course all the machines and different workouts for different people.
so.if u feel sure u can do this then go for it. but it can be a tough job if u dont know what ur doing.
also check out the link, b/c a lot of places now require certification.
good luck!

just have to be a good bs'er and have a nice body or you can take a contemporary health class an eight week class at your community college and get a cpr card or get trained at your local gym generally it is not a heavily regulated industry
It depends. Some states (CA I think) require you to have a certification before practicing, but most don't. You should have some kind of background / experience, as certifications are typically just written exams. The best certification is ACSM, as they have a written and practice portion. However, you will need to have some sort of health related degree to become certified. NSCA is the most well known for strength / weight lifting. There are many others (ACE, NASM, ISSA, Cooper/Baylor are popular here in Texas).

Many gyms require you to either have a certification or be in school. However, I heard many have their own certifications that you are required to take regardless. You will need to have some kind of insurance. Salience is also key - you should "look" the part, as the client may not listen to what you say if you do not possess the body they are looking for. Also, with such a high turnover rate in gyms and big $$$ in supplements you need to have some kind of sales/marketing skills.
