my son who is now one has just started having nose bleeds?!

Question: im taking him to the doctor's later but does anyone have any advise about what to do if he has another one
Answers:
Yes, Very important.DON"T HOLD HEAD BACK when pinching off the nose. pinch just blow the bridge of the nose, where the soft tissue starts. After the nose bleed stops (for sure) grab a Q-tip and put a tiny amount of Vaseline on just the inside of his nose (not far up) to moisten the membranes. Make sure you have humidifiers in his room and or play area. If you think he is having a bad day with them let the bathroom steam up a bit and then take him in there for 10 minutes or so. Should help a bit. Those are all temporary fixes, he should see a doctor in case the nostril needs to be cauterized or something.(don't let him pick it)

Other Answers:
Have him hold his head down and hold a tissue and pinch his nostrils together.
The air in your home might be too dry. I used to get oozing because of that. Now, I have a humidifier, and voila! No more nosebleeds! But, with a little one that young, definitely see his pediatrician.
If it is not handled, then the doctor has not found the underlying cause. I'd get another opinion, quick.
Hold gently but firmly the bridge of his nose. and be calm it's the best thing you can do for him.
Does he have the habbit of picking his noses? How's the humidity in the home? Too dry?
Have him checked for Von Willis Brandt's disease as well as
Hemophelia. Don't let him bleed more than 15-20 minutes without medical attention. They are both life threatening diseases. Put a cold rag on the back of his neck and don't make him lay down.
