Ive been on an antibiotic.is this a normal reaction?!

Question: Ive been on an antibiotic for three days now. I have experienced burning when I wipe and brownish stuff when I wipe or look at my pantyliner. Im also on birth control *second month*.could what I am seeing *the burning and discoloration* be either break through bleeding or a side effect to the medicine? *The burning throws me for a loop*. I dont think its a bladder infection because Im pressing on it and its not hurting and Im not peeing out of the norm.
Answers:
antibiotics are known to give women yeast infections..eat yogurt to help prevent that from happening.breakthrough bleeding is possible.check with a doctor..or if your insurance has a nurse help line you could always call that number.

You could have a yeast infection call the doctor
When taking anti botics please use a back up form of BC because antibotics can lessen their protection. I doubt what you are feeling is because of the AB
anti biotics destroy 'good' bacteria as well as bad bacteria, 'good' bacteria prevents vaginal thrush and its very common for women who have been on anti biotics to get thrush due to the imbalance.
Lots of antibiotics cause yeast infection.
From the online Merck Manual. Not that they may disrupt kideny function

Common side effects of antibiotics include upset stomach, diarrhea, and, in women, vaginal yeast infections. Some side effects are more severe and, depending on the antibiotic, may disrupt the function of the kidneys, liver, bone marrow, or other organs. Blood tests are used to monitor such adverse reactions.

Some people who receive antibiotics develop colitis, an inflammation of the large intestine. The colitis results from a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium difficile, which grows unchecked when other antibacteria are killed by the antibiotics.

Antibiotics can also cause allergic reactions. Mild allergic reactions consist of an itchy rash or slight wheezing. Severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) can be life threatening and usually include swelling of the throat, inability to breathe, and low blood pressure.

Many people tell their doctor that they are allergic to an antibiotic when in fact they have only experienced side effects from it that are not allergy-related. The distinction is important because people who are allergic to an antibiotic should not be given that drug or one closely related to it. However, people who have experienced minor side effects can usually take related drugs or even continue taking the same one. The doctor can determine the significance of any unpleasant reaction a person has to an antibiotic.

Sounds like a yeast infection to me. Also could be your starting your period and that would explain the brown or "old" blood discoloration. Most yeast infection will be yellow to light brown, and even green. I would call your doc. and have them do a pap, to rule out std's and pregnacy also. Any time you are on antibiotics, you should always used a back up form of birth control.
this has nothning to do with antibiotics since you have been taking them for the last 3 days only.go to your gyno,if it is a yest infection, antibiotics will worsen it after sometimes.
