I have no sex drive..?!

Question: I am 25 and I have no sex drive. I am on Depo Provera birth control and I have an attractive boyfriend that I live with. What is wrong with me and what can I do to make me have a sex drive?
Answers:
Birth control affects everyone differently, so it could be the Depo Provera that affected your sex drive. My gynecologist recently recommended two things for my low libido - an herbal remedy called "Optimum Libido" from myphysicianschoice.com and testosterone cream. He gave me a prescription for the cream, which had to be filled at a compounding pharmacy. I have heard good things about the cream, but don't know anything about the herbal pills. But my gynecologist keeps up with new innovations in the field, so I trust his opinion. Try making an appointment with your gyno.

Are you sure it is not him doing anything for you? Maybe you need to see a doctor and have a through blood work up and maybe the kind of birth control is not right for you.

Sex drives differ from one person to the next and for the same person at different times in their lives. My guess is that there is something emotional here. For one thing - just because your drive is low, that does not mean you are not "normal" - but you might want to reflect about your feelings in relation to sex - whether for some reason it makes you feel sad, mad or scrared - and be willing to confront those feelings and try to understand them Counselling might help.
I'm in the same boat; I'm 26 and I could care less about sex, but I can definetely attribute it to a medication I'm on. It could be a side effect of the Depo Provera. Ask your doctor if there is another method of birth control you can try. Good luck.
