I think most people agree it is a horrible thing in reality, but believe it or not, its a huge fantasy in some people's sex lives. Very taboo. Tons of sites about it.
People joke about things theyre uncomfortable with. I dont think its for the humor, but as an insult its very degrading. Speaking from a Brothers point of view I really dont see a damn thing funny about it. Maybe you just associate with some weird *** people!
Because our social norms say it is bad. We are taught to view this as one of the worst things you can do. I agree it is bad thing for many reasons, but I was raised with our societies social norms. There are a lot of very valid reasons against incest. The major reason is health. If you have a defect in your genes and you mate with another person with your DNA then you have the same defect thus increasing the probability of your offspring having this defect. The defect can be something small or can cause your offspring's quality of life to be horrible. There are a lot of moral issues and biblical issues, too many to go into.
Most people joke about things that are not acceptable in our social norms. Passing Gas, burping, talking about sex, public display of affection, breast feeding in public, incest you name it and it is joked about because people feel uncomfortable. Even comedians go as far as to joke about people who are deviant. They take something horrible and find a common humor to make everyone laugh.
However, if you believe in the bible then we are all a product of incest. "Not saying I do not believe in the bible"
