What sport or exercises are the best if you want to run for a long time without!

Question: How can i run for a long time without having bad cramps? My dream is to be a track star, but I feel like I'll never achieve it because i can't run very long, and it's really hard for me to breath and i get cramps very easily. I don't have astma, so what can i do to improve my running(?) skills?

an elyptical is kinda like running without the high impact of running. don't know if it would help with cramps though.
swimming is the ultimate excersise it uses every muscle in your body
Bicycling, especially on roads with alot of hills.
long slow distance running will be the best thing combined with some sprints & strength training after you're comfortable with the distance part. Start small. When I first started running, I could barely do a mile. I kept at it every day and within 6 months, a little at a time, and running very slowly, I was doing 10+ mile runs.
Swimming and (because it adds resistance and does no damage to the joints) when you run you will actually feel better and less sore in your joints.
Running everyday will help, but lifting your lower body will work wonders in getting you in shape for track. Soccer is a good sport for getting in shape. And going on hikes in the mountains, that will get your endurance up. Start checking out the tips in "Runners" magazine, they have really great info.
the only way you can improve your running is by running more. you cramp because your muscle lose sodium and water faster than your body can recover from. some people sweat a higher concentrated sodium than most. just make sure you hydrate days before you work out. gatorade, gatorload, and gatorlytes should be good. good luck. if you have any other questions, email me at twash77@yahoo.com
