Anyone with hypothyroidism have any advice? I'm sick all the time.?!
Question: I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism over a year ago.I take my meds everyday and my TSH level is now normal.The problem is I get colds,flu symptoms and sinus infections about every six mounths.Ive talked with two different Doctors and they say "you shouldnt",or"your labs look good" and you just need to take better care of your self.Any suggestions or common experiences.Im desperate to live a normal life again.

Unfortunately, you will never be normal as you once was. I personally never had the colds and sinus infections that you are describing. Sounds to me like you may have allergies. I would suggest that you see an ear nose and throat specialist. Its good that your levels are normal. This is a life long disease and we have to make the best of it. yeah im 17 and ive had it since i was in the 4rth grde so pretty much a little girl. ive always seen a specialist for mine i think this is how tou spell it a endocraniolgogist the same specialist for diabetes. maybe you should consider seeing one of those i also have a hosp. in my town but to go see my endocranologist i drive a half hour away because thats how much i care! try one of those and see a different docter if you cant and tell them SERIOUSLY there is something wrong i dont feel right even though my charts are fine ya know! i know ever since ive been on it no mattter if mine are fine i ALWAYS feel tired, weak sometimes headaches this all comes with it though i hope i helped somewhat
You sound like you have problems with your Immune System. Start with a good quality vitamin/mineral supplement as recommended in the June 19, 2002 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
Next, I would consider the possibility of various chemical/heavy metal toxicities that can disrupt both your thyroid function and immune systems. For an excellent book on these issues I recommend "Detoxify or Die" (I know, that is a gruesome title!) by Sherry Rogers, M.D. It is available at Amazon.com or through her publisher at 1-800-846-6687. This is an 'amazing' and powerful book filled with scientific facts and concepts your medical doctors do not read about!

Stand over your doctors and have them send you to a specialist or change the specialist if you have been referred to one. You are entitled to obtain alternative medical advise if you are not satisfied with your current advise.
