I know they say it doesn't, but does birth control make you gain weight?!

Question: I am a teenager and in the past 8 month i have been placed on birth control and switched many times due to odd side effects, my doctor tells me it wont make me gain weight, but the nurses told me it most definatly will, i want to know if its just me gaining weight or actaully the pills (right now im on ortho evra if that makes a difference)
Answers:
The pill mimics hormonal changes that you go thru when you are pregnant to prevent your eggs to release. During pregnancy, your body is "told" by the hormones to retain water. The weight gain is mostly water. Keep trying the different types and, yes, the lower dose hormone pills will have lesser side effects.

Other Answers:
Many types of birth control can make you gain weight. Hormonal imbalances. Try the light/lite version of the current cycle you are on.
The pill doesnt, bubt the shot and the patch does.

I used all 3 of them.
The pill might make you gain a few pounds, but it beats getting pregnant and gaining a lot of weight.
Yes
