when I got mine done they told me not to use bactine. I did anyways and it worked fine. Just make sure to use that special antimicrobial soap they tell you to use and to soak it in saline every night. I didn't soak it as often as I should've and it took almost twice as long as it should've to heal, so make sure to take care of it. other than that, good luck.

As a Nurse I would say that bactine is ok, but it would be better to use something like the ear care cleaner that you use when you have your ears pierced, or peroxide. Once you use that to clean it, then apply some neosporin which is a topical antibiotic to prevent infection.
i used it on mine for the first couple weeks. I never had an infection or much discomfort. What I did notice tho is if it does start to hurt or itch, clean it.

Soaking it in sea salt for a few minutes a day is the best, you can even find it at the grocery store, anything else can really irritate it and the last thing you want is for it to become infected or to be in pain for any longer than you have to.
