why do we get heel spurs, and how can we control the pain?!

Question:
Answers:
heel spurs are caused by not having the proper arch support. the tendons in your arch tear a bit off of the heel bone. when you sleep at night your feet are in a relaxed position and the damage heals while you sleep. When you get up in the morning, you step out of bed on to the ground and then tear all of the healed tissue away from the bone again, starting the cycle all over. If you have the coverage it is best to go see the doctor for a referal to a pediatrist and get some orthodic insoles for your shoes. they are very expensive but will solve the problem. If that isn't an option you MUST buy proper shoes with support, no filp flops and shoes that offer no support. The problem will never go away and only get worse.

I had a bone spur on my pinkie toe and the pain was so horrible I had to have it surggically shaved down. I don't know what relief is out there. Good Luck
My ex-wife had her spurs shaved off. They were very painful and we had a huge discussion with the physician. He said that nobody knows for sure why some people get them and not others, it's a lottery. There doesn't seem to be a genetic component either because her siblings were both fine and her parents were dumbfounded when they started to grow. It's possible that ill fitting shoes and a little neglect may have been a contributing factor.

I would look into having them removed. You will welcome the relief.
