Aids started as a disease in Monkeys is Africa, It was passed to a human by biting the person. The reason it could be transfered so easily is because monkeys have the same basic genetic makeup as humans do.
Began in Africa. Groups there were vaccinating against Polio. They began to grow their own cultures to make their own vaccine to have onhand. They caught wild chimpanzees from the jungles, did not test them for viruses, and used their kidneys to grow the Polio vaccine. The vaccine mutated in at least one of the chimps which had an unknown virus, and the vaccine was given to countless numbers of people. That's why it has been so devastating in Africa. AIDS is a scary disease. It intertwines itself into your own DNA, which is why it affects people differently, and also why it is so difficult to find a cure.
