"better" for you, yes. but that's a comparison, like saying getting shot in the foot is "better" than getting shot in the face. sure, it's "better," but it's still not really a GOOD thing.

Sadly they can't reduce the tar content without reducing nicotine content (except through filter tips). It has been suggested, with some evidence in support, that people who change from a high to low tar brand just change their inhalation habits (ie take deeper breaths or more frequent inhalations) so that they do not reduce their tar content.
