Does anyone know how to prevent ingrown hairs? Is there a product or homeopathic!

Question: My boyfriend keeps getting ingrown hairs and they really drive him nuts. I have never heard of this being such a problem for anyone and I don't know what to do for him. We are trying to avoid seeing a dermatologist as he just began a new job and has no healthcare coverage yet. I'm hoping someone else has dealt with this and can steer us in the right direction. Thanks!

I'm not sure of any particular products or how bad it is, but I have a few suggestions. Before shaving, it is good to wash and exfoliate the skin first, and should shave in the direction of the hair growth every time.

One thing you can do is after you shave it sand it witha buff puff or super fine emory cloth.

Try a loofah every day, it will prevent them.
I actually learned this from a friend who was a stripper! She said to exfoliate like crazy. So get a body poof at the dollar store and just plain soap and water and exfoliate! Good luck. If it is on his face use a new razor every week and always shave downward.

Use a loofah on the skin where he is getting the ingrown hairs to keep the skin from growing over the pore, that's keeping the hair under the skin. A loofah can be found in the bath accessories isle at most stores, usually near the make-up isle. Target has them, if that's convenient for you.
I hear that "tend skin" works. I just personally let my beard grow and shave it every couple of weeks. I have not seen anything that has worked for me.
Twice a week give you boyfriend a sugar body scub.

get say about a cup of raw sugar, half a cup of almond oil and a few drops of essential oil, peppermint for example.

mix in a bowl all of the above. Dampen the skin and rub the sugars in a gentle circular motion. Dont be vigourous as you dont want to over stimulate the skin or cause irritation. This method will stimulate blood flow, exfoliate the skin and help the new hairs go the right way.
Rinse well. His skin should feel smooth and soft. Doing this on a regular basis should see results quickly. It feels great too.
