Is it possible to lose 60 lbs in 6months with working out and going on a veggie!

Question:
Answers:
60 lbs. divided by 6 months= 10 lbs per month
10 lbs. divided by 4 weeks per month = 2.5 lbs per week
(2.5 pounds lost per week)

Men can safely lose that amount per week. It's slightly more dangerous for women to lose that amount-- I'd adjust the goal down a bit for safety. IF you are a growing teen, that goal needs to be scaled back a bit more; you wouldn't want to end up short in height or suffer some other side effect of starving yourself.

A veggie and fruit diet can be dangerous even for vegetarians. We all suffer some muscle breakdown as a result of daily metabolism and exercise, or restriction of calories. There are vegetarian and non-vegetarian ways to get protein.

The most common concept now in dietary science is that to create a healthy body it's a good idea to seriously reconsider the amount of highly processed sugar-based or sugar-producing foods you consume. They tend to increase insulin in the blood -- the perfect way to add fat and create Type II diabetes over time.

Let's clarify-- WHITE flour in all its forms: bread, cake, cookies, crackers, cereal, pasta, breading for fried foods, etc. The more processed these are, the more you store. That's in addition to known SUGAR foods: candy, soda, gum, anything sweetened.

The idea here is to reintroduce fiber in the form of less-processed foods into your diet. WHOLE grains. FRESH veggies & fruits. Good LOW-FAT dairy products. Lean meats. Fresh olive or canola oil for cooking. Fresh nuts in small amounts. Spices for flavor-- NOT butter or deep-frying.

The next idea is to eat more often in smaller amounts. Weight control is all about body chemistry. If you eat only 2 big meals a day-- even if they are healthy-- it's more likely to raise insulin levels. Eat 4-6 small meals and your insulin stays more level and you feel less bloated.

Finally, healthy eating is NOT about denial of your favorite foods. I have a client who never lost that last 10 pounds until she really GOT IT regarding portion sizes and frequency. She finally learned to enjoy the foods she loved, but in smaller portions. So she WILL have a donut-- but she doesn't eat 3 of them now. She WILL have a big cookie-- but she wraps it up and eats the rest later. Over time the HUGE portions seem less appealing and you feel better.

You may find that SOME of that weight you are carrying is in your intestines and when you reduce your portions you will lose 5 pounds right in the first week. After that though, go by how you feel. If you feel stressed or irritable, there's a good chance you are undereating or not eating often enough.

Add some low-impact cardiovascular activity-- even if it's just one 45 minute brisk walk every day-- and you will have added yet one more very healthy method of accelerating your results and extending your life.

In some cases a thyroid conditon is the cause of the problem and I see that you added this in. If your diet is REALLY bad-- that could be the reason in itself for the health problems. Naturopaths would prescribe kelp tablets -- a natural source of iodine. Normal MD's will probably put you on synthroid or similar medicine. I am NOT a doctor, but either way, both types of doctor will probably steer you toward a healthier food lifestyle.

In my case, I have enjoyed HUGE success from reading and using Peter D'Adamo's "Eat Right for Your Type" book. My problem was with food allergies, and with his method I now enjoy a restructured diet that keeps me pain-free.

Best of Health to You-- and thanks for reading this-- it's a lot of info I'm sure!

perhaps if you ate nothing at all.
It is possible. You just have to commit yourself.
You body needs more than just fruit and veggies, especially if you're working out you'll need more carbs and protein. A balanced diet combined with exercise is always the key to taking your body to its optimum weight. Consult a nutritionist who can give you the best diet for your body type.
Go Low Carb- South Beach diet works GREAT! I lost 50 lbs. in 6 months. Good Luck!
yes.. but u still hav to take sum meat once in a while.. u know.. for balance..
Not all people can lose weight on just fruits and vegetables, in fact, what you should eat is determined by your blood type. I lost fifty pounds on the blood type diet, you can find out what foods you should eat by finding out your blood type and buying the book Eat Right 4 Your Type by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo. It really does work. I know how hard it is to try to lose weight when you're eating the wrong kinds of food. You can do it. Good luck!
