How would siblings having birth make the child genetically mutated?!

Question: Say two siblings, a boy and a girl, hook up and the girl has a baby. Why would the child be retarded or mutated?
Answers:
Because it reinforces non-dominant genes, if there was a rare genetic disorder in the family, the child would have a much greater chance of getting it than someone with just one parent with a family history

That's what happened with the Royals and hemophilia

Could we get away from the word "retarded", I find it derogatory

Example:
J=Dominant gene, not blind
j= blind
Pauline: Jj
Ralph=JJ
Pauline and Ralph have 3 Kids
Tim=Jj
Lizzy=Jj
Mitch=JJ
Everyone with at least one J can see
If Tim and Lizzy Reproduce, there is a possibility the child would be jj (blind), now consider all the genetics and all the diseases you could have floating around in one allelle in your family. better to marry outside the family

Other Answers:
ya i learned about this in school. it could be retarded in some way. or anything liek that. but ya. it will more than likely not be normal
Whatever genetic issues that one partner has will be doubled.
They would have the same bad recessive genes so they would be more likely to have the bad recessive genes match up in their offspring than someone who was not related. It doesn't always come out retarded or mutated. The Egyptian kings and the Hawaiian kings married their sisters.
chances are the baby they had would not be born retarded or missing body parts like the old story goes, but that child's children may be more at risk for birth defects. It has to do with the parents DNA (the sequence of chemicals in our bodies that make us who we are) being to similar because they came from the same set of parents. It's alot harder to explain than that, but it's the simplified version
ughs at the word "retarded" its like calling gay people fags and such.. very demeaning.

anyways lots of reasons why siblings having babies causes abnormalities.. although usualy its when its over generations.. like alot of pharoes ect long ago.. alot of royal families died out due to such. What happens is when you interbread.. the lil genetic defaults are doubly passed on. lets say heart disease runs in the family.. if both the sister and brother carry it.. doesnt give much of a chance for the kid.. if the kid carries it... and has a kid with his sister or mother.. again.. also.. genetic errors can happen over generations and they build up.

also if you have a recessive condition in your family...
and both the sister and brother carry it...
well chances are the kid will have it. now if the girl had a baby with someone un related the chances would be much slimmer because of the wider range of genes. IE not everyone carries the same corrupted genes in world population.
There is no proof that a baby born to siblings will be "genetically mutated."
