Speaking from past experience with b/f's and family members, I can honestly say that you can't get ANYONE to do anything that they don't ALREADY want to do for themselves, no matter what the consequences of their actions will be!! From what you say, it sounds like he is an alcoholic.though alcoholics are the LAST to recognize or admit they have a problem with drinking. If he isn't willing to take care of his problem on his own, without the urging and convincing of others around him who love him, and if you can't live with his actions any longer, then the only thing left to do is to leave him and find someone who doesn't drink at all, except maybe socially once in a blue moon.and not to get falling down drunk even then when they do. If you can't or won't leave, then you just have to find a way to live with it because you'll never get anyone to quit anything they want to do, and you can't help someone who doesn't help themselves.
You can't. My husband has had a drinking problem for years, and no matter what I have done or said, he won't quit. He just sneaks around and does it now. But I always smell it and we always argue. They have to want to quit drinking themselves.
