Is there any way to stretch fabric in the wash rather than simply not shrink it?!

Wash in cold water..do no put in dryer. lay flat stretched to the way you want it. Or if it is not a garment then hang with some sort of weight to stretch it.

You can wash it in cold water in the washer, gentle cycle or hand wash cycle if you have it. Just DO NOT dry it. Never use hot water.clothes will shrink

if it is knit wool, or other animal fiber, a dry cleaner might be able to do something, i think it is called knit blocking. that technique can make the garment up to 2 sizes larger.
