why do people dream when they sleep when they could just sleep without visions o!

Question: Everyone could sleep peacefully without dreams or nightmares.
Answers:
Your dreams are your subconcious mind at work while you're asleep.. Your mind is experiencing sensory deprivation, but it's still 'active', and sense it's not receiving any incoming input (sights, sounds, smells, tastes or touch) it 'creates' images, feelings and situations.

Your mind cannot be 'shut off' like a light switch. Even when you're asleep your sub-concious (primative) mind is still active.

well dreams are mainly what you're thinking of like if you barely did anything you probably wouldn't have a dream
humm. not sure. i think it is because when we go to sleep, we often dream about the last thing on our minds. however, i personally believe we are just resting on bodies hee on earth and as that happens, we travel to another place and live there for that time bweing..ya its confusing but hey! its what I think and believe
dreams r only memories that r shown from ur past being update into ur head into dream causing a fantasy or nightmare that is going on inside ur head
I know right, I had a dream the other night that i caught my byfirend cheating on me, kissing this other girl. "I was like, what's going on!? That's my boyfriend! He has a *****!" and I stormed off all pissed. i would have had a better morning if I hadn't had that dream.
i dont know but when ur dreaming your dream is usualy about what happened in your life or is going to happen like if u dream of playing piano and then a monster comes and eats u and then u make chicken noodle soup well its usually that u did play piano and probably whached a scary movie and then made chicken noodle soup its just mixed up and it seems like u have never seen of done anything like that

It's supposedly your mind's way of dealing with all of the thoughts and things from the day's events. It has to process them, sometime. Especially if you're someone who always tries to hold back feelings or supress your thoughts or emotions.
Some people dont have dreams, at all atleast not that they can remember, and some who stay up for a couple weeks can actually dream while you are awake.
someone told me one way to not dream is by clearing ur mind before u go 2 sleep.this probably doesnt answer ur question but if u dont want 2 dream here's the advice
When we go to sleep our brain falls through aboout 5-6 cycles of sleep, the final one is REM (rapid eye movement) This is when the body is completely asleep yet the brain is running almost as if it was awake. During this stage a great deal of the information in your brain is organized, think of it as your brain running defrag. Without dreaming people will begin hallucinating and it can cause real brain damage.
Well, I suppose the best way to explain the occurrence of dreams is that the brain is comprised of two seperate existences: the conscious and the unconscious.

While you're awake, the conscious portion of your brain is actively filing and sorting your daily experiences while your unconscious is "sleeping", so to speak.

As you enter the REM (rapid eye movement) stage of sleep, your conscious mind is at rest, leaving your unconscious mind to take control.

Sigmund Freud believed that dreams were a direct product of unanswered/unacknowledged occurences throughout your life. He concluded that if you were to write down every single detail you remember from a dream, then seperate each detail onto different pages, you would be able to decipher what they mean by writing down everything that comes to mind with each occassion.

For example: Freud had a dream that he was sitting at a dinner party with friends, one of whom, the wife of an acquaintance, told him he had beautiful eyes and proceeded to put her hand on his thigh. When he put this instance on it's own sheet of paper, he wrote down everything that he knew of the situation. He realized that the woman was the wife of a man he owed a large sum of money to. This, in turn, reminded him of a taxi ride the night before when a friend was worried about not being able to pay the cost of the taxi.

From this, he derived that this portion of the dream was his concern over owing the woman's husband money, and his fear that his reputation would be affected (as it would be if he'd had an affair with the woman) if he didn't pay the man back immediately.

Additionally, it has been said that without an outlet such as dreaming for our unconscious mind, we would go mad.

Hope this helps.
