Past catches up with you.?!

Question: 4 years ago I was at university and I was also slimming at the time. The problems started when I becamse obsessed (even afraid) of 'fattening' foods and I was also bulimic. As well as this my period stopped for a year and I was also suffering from insomnia. I was bascially unhappy at university and felt out of control with the weight issue. I didn't graduate with good grades.

I now feel a lot better and I am no longer 'fixated' in what I eat, I am sensible. My problem is that now I'm looking for a job in my field I am hindered by my uni grades, it feels like it's coming back to haunt me, I don't know how to explain to potential employers why I performed poorly, I feel I am being punished for something I couldn't control all those years ago when I was younger and of a different mantality.

What can I do? It may prevent me from getting the job I want (I now have postgrad from a reputable institution & experience in my field, I have improved vastly)

Please help. Thank you.
Answers:
all people have stress and deal with it differently, the point to make here is not poor performance, but to point out that it was overcome. Don't go into details concerning all the "whys" emphasize the improvements! if it so happens that previous choices and dysfunctions dictate the here and now, then life is simply asking you to persevere and be diligent.

Bring out the good things that you did while attending school; clubs, volunteer, etc. Tell the employer that even though you were very busy with personal matters and studying, that you always went to class and made it through school.
Your experience should be an advantage. You should be honest with potential employers. They will appreciate you for that and also realise what you have come through and, hopefully, see how determined you are.
I don't wish to make light of ur problems but bullemia and anorexia are becoming less of a taboo subject nowadays. Im sure if you explain the situation to your perspective employers they will be very understanding. If you do not want to divulge this personal information the fact that you have ur postgrad qualification and some experience will show them you have what it takes. Good luck, i hope everything works out for you.
what goes around comes around sometimes you have to change yourself to be another person think about when you was younger you probably didi things you wasnt proud of now look back and you say how could of i did that. now that your life is in a fix you wont even think about doing those type of things
If this is the reason you are not being hired then why not let them know what the problem was along with the fact that you have conquered a disease that once controlled your life. I think you would be surprised at how many would be understanding of the situation.
all great people dont have great grades
