Does a hysterectomy stop menstruation?!

Question: Just wondering if it will stop you from getting your period completely!
Answers:
ahhhhhh lets see YES! :-)

A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, usually done by a gynecologist. Hysterectomy may be total (removing the body and cervix of the uterus) or partial (also called supra-cervical). In many cases, surgical removal of the ovaries (oophorectomy) is performed concurrent with a hysterectomy. The surgery is then called "total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy."

Women who have total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy surgeries lose most of their ability to produce the female hormones estrogen and progesterone and subsequently enter what is known as "surgically-induced menopause" (as opposed to normal menopause, which occurs naturally in women as part of the aging process). In women under the age of 50, hormone supplements (usually estrogen) are often prescribed as part of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to offset the negative effects of sudden hormonal loss (most notably an increased risk for early-onset osteoporosis). This treatment is somewhat controversial due to the known carcinogenic and coagulative properties of estrogen; however, many physicians and patients feel the benefits outweigh the risks in women who would otherwise be "too young" to be in full-blown menopause.

Although many hysterectomies are performed via a full abdominal incision laparotomy, two common surgical approaches which are less invasive are laparoscopically or vaginally. Surgery with ovarian conservation is an option for the pre-menopausal patient with benign disease (non cancer).

yes it does also stops or slows down hair growth under arms and legs.
hysterectomy is ---surgicalremovalof the uterus
Yes, but there are alternatives, like endometrial ablation. Ask your doctor.
After a hysterectomy, a woman can no longer have children and menstruation stops. The ovaries generally continue to produce hormones, although in some cases they may have reduced activity.

A hysterectomy is an operation to remove a woman's uterus (womb). The uterus is where a baby grows when a woman is pregnant. Sometimes the fallopian tubes, ovaries, and cervix are removed at the same time the uterus is removed. These organs are located in a woman's lower abdomen (see image below). The cervix is the lower end of the uterus. The ovaries are organs that produce eggs and hormones. The fallopian tubes carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus.

If you haven't reached menopause yet, a hysterectomy will stop your monthly bleeding (periods).

Yes. A hysterectomy is a complete removal of the uterus, meaning that you would not get a period- also meaning you would not be able to have children. Getting your tubes tied still does give you a period though. My mom had hers burned (they can come untied) and her first period was really bad though. But after that, she hasn't really had any problems.
Yes it does stop. getting your tubes tied doesn't help it to stop. Does slow it down. I only have a period once every 3-4 months!
Yes, because the uterus is removed in a hysterectomy.
