how to control diabetes without medicines?!

Question:
Answers:
If the diabetes is type II (type I must be treated with insulin, as type I does not make insulin at all) and not far along or the A1c test is in the low range, diet and exercise can control it a lot of times, but if the A1c gets too high while trying to control it with just diet and exercise (diet meaning: eating correct foods in correct amounts and at correct times) then you will need the help of medicine. If you are overweight, if possible lose weight. (but that is so much easier said than done, if it was easy to lose weight there would be no larger size people, and they are not that way due to being lazy. That is a stupid myth!)

Other Answers:
diet and exercise--be strict on yourself, but in many cases it will be worth the effort.
Diet, excerise and careful monitoring. Even though you may not like it, meds may be the way to go.
Go On A diet
If it is mild by diet and exercise. Otherwise drugs and insulin should be added to this if necessary.
Depends on what kind of diabetes you have. Type 1 diabetes is where the body can not produce insulin. So basically if you have this type of diabetes you will always have to take meds.

Type 2 diabetes is where the body develops an immunity to insulin. With this type of diabetes you can stay off of meds by regulating your diet, losing weight if you're overweight, recognizing the signs of hypoglyceima and hyperglycemia.

Chromium picolinate will greatly lower your blood sugar, but you SERIOUSLY need to keep your BG levels checked if you take this. I'm not going to go into details on WHY each of these things are taken unless you specifically ask. Here goes.
Alpha-Lipoic acid
Chromium picolinate
garlic
L-Carnitine
Quercetin
Vanadium
Vitamin B complex
Extra B 12
Zinc
Coenzyme Q10
Magnesium
Psyllium
Seriously consider becomming vegetarian. If not, at least increase your intake of fresh fruit/veggies while decreasing your consumption of red meats & simple carbs such as potatoes, baked items, cereals.
Increase your intake of complex carbs such as whole grains.
Consider buying a juicer & drink vegetable juice. This will both lower the need for insulin & decrease fat in the blood.
An excellent multi vitamin/mineral supplement for Diabetics is called "Spirulina".
Avoid taking fish oil supplements, and also avoid salt & white flour products.
When going natural, it is VITAL that you monitor BG closely. Keep orange juice or soda handy in case of hypoglycemia. If it becomes too much of a temptation, buy the glucose tabs.
Good luck. Ask more questions if you need more info.

The Atkins diet is pretty close, because it limits your sugars, carbs and starches. Eat alot of protein. Medicines aren't that bad. I was on glucophage and glucotrol and I lost 73 lbs, which I needed. My A1C levels went way down. Also, stress will affect your sugars. Exercise! It's not that hard. And with all the sugar free stuff on the market today, ice cream can be a daily thing! But watch out for sugar alcohols in foods because some people get upset stomaches from too many sugar alcohols. Try it in small doses. Good luck. Been a Type II diabetic for almost 3 years now and my A1C is down to 7.8 and 7 or lower is considered good.
Diet will not always work. You MUST find out what type of diabetis you have. Certain types can be controlled with diet, others require both diet and medicine which MUST be monitored daily.

If you require medicine and do not monitor your sugar levels or take you meds serious problems will arise. I have taken care of patiants required to take medicine but fail to follow the orders of the doctors and medical staff.

I took care of a patiant that within a month lost 3 of his toes because he refused to stop smoking, follow a diabetic diet, or take his meds.

I had another patiant that had severe diabeties who refused to follow orders to stop smoking because he had poor circulation and with in aweek we had to remove his left leg below the knee.

I would seriously find out what type of diabetes you have and follow all doctors orders. Good luck

the ONLY way is to adapt to a healthier life style, Diet + Exercises = your diabetes under control and eventually, non existent
