Why am I attracted to the dark side of life?!

Question: I don't believe I am a negative person, I hate listening to my punk b!tch co-worker whining about his health problems.
I am a Criminal Justice major, but I am going to finish my degree in that and work on another in either Funeral Service Education/Mortuary Sciences, Business (Non-Profit Business management), Divinity/Theology/Philsophy, Psychology (with an emphsis on Thanatology) OR Special Education.
All of which, including my current major will put in direct contact with the negative situations or negative people (with maybe except Special Education, most 'special' needs people I have known or worked with have a certain joy inside them I cannot explain)
Answers:
Why not call it an inquisitive yearn for knowledge in an area most people won't want to be involved in. I guess you can call that an attraction but maybe it is born in some people because we need them in the world. Not everyone can do what you are interested in doing. It takes a certain kind of person, who i believe is brave enough to face the things in life people fear. Death, the mind, religion.
You call it an attraction to the dark side of life but maybe you could reconsider and call your attraction a gift.

maybe cause you're attractive? or just weird
Well, I think you are looking at this the wrong way. Positive and negative are useless labels here. It seems to me that you are more interested in the 'behind the scenes' excitement of those trades. It's a sort of being in the know and an attraction to the less than popular.

Someone has to handle the tragic in society. Those people are valued for their help in those times of need. And I think you will find that those areas are far, far from how they are portrayed. The people in them are interesting and happy people over all. Perhaps you sense this behind the curtain stuff.
There's a certain fascination people have with the darker side. You don't have to wear all black and whine about stuff to be interested in some of the less bright and shiny things out there.
